The Department of Biology is actively involved in research in genetics, eye development, ecology and the environment, biology teaching methods, forensic biology, spinal cord regeneration, yeast molecular biology, membrane biochemistry and biophysics, oncology, renal physiology, molecular development, DNA repair, plant molecular biology, plant cell biology, bone cell biology, and regenerative biology.

The faculty and staff of the department provide an environment where students at all levels can explore, discover, and learn through coursework and research.

The biology department offers bachelor’s degrees in biology, biology teaching and biotechnology. We offer several master’s degree options allowing you to determine the right path based on your career aspirations. Our preprofessional non-thesis master’s option prepares you for admission into medical school while our thesis program prepares you for employment in local industry. We also offer a biology doctorate degree.
