Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is an innovative project-based biomedical science curriculum designed for high school students.
The School of Science is a national site for PLTW summer teacher professional development in four biomedical science courses. Teachers nationwide participate in PLTW training each year.
The neuroscience, psychology, and biology departments partner to host the Indiana Brain Bee every winter. Open to students in grades 9–12, contestants in the spelling bee-style event answer questions about the brain and nervous system until a single student answers all questions correctly and remains. The first place winner receives airfare and hotel costs to travel with a parent to the National Brain Bee.
Funded by the National Science Foundation, Nanotechnology Experiences for Students and Teachers (NEST) is a two-week program that provides a unique opportunity for high-school students and teachers to explore nanotechnology. This cutting-edge field is rapidly becoming an essential part of science, engineering, medicine, and many other disciplines.
