About

Explore the universe at IU Indianapolis

Physics is a fascinating field that encompasses matter, energy, and all of the interactions among them. It seeks to answer questions about the tiniest subatomic particles and about the universe itself.

Here in the Department of Physics at the School of Science, we’re a tight-knit group of faculty and students dedicated to learning together and discovering the workings of the universe. Our undergraduate and graduate programs feature small, interactive classes that will challenge you, and opportunities to join cutting-edge research projects.

Why study at IU Indianapolis?

Because we’re in downtown Indianapolis, we’re close to five hospitals, the Indiana University schools of Medicine and Dentistry, and the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology. We’re also surrounded by countless science and technology companies. Through internships and undergrad research, you’ll have opportunities to collaborate across disciplines, across campus, and across the academic and business communities.

Our mission
