INDIANAPOLIS - Malik, who currently serves as the interim chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology in the School of Science and previously held the position of executive vice chancellor of academic affairs at IU Northwest, has been appointed interim associate vice chancellor for undergraduate education and dean of University College, succeeding Stephen Hundley. A national search for a permanent successor to this position will begin in the fall.
"IUPUI is fortunate that David Malik brings such extensive experience to this position as both a faculty member and an administrator, all of which has prepared him to focus intensely on student success, a strategic priority for our campus," Paydar said.
"I look forward to working with faculty and staff in the Division of Undergraduate Education and University College, as well as colleagues across campus, to help support and promote IUPUI's critical mission of undergraduate student learning and success," Malik said. "We will continue to foster a climate of enriched learning, discovery and engagement to help ensure students succeed, thrive and have a meaningful undergraduate experience."
Malik earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from California State University, East Bay and his doctorate from University of California San Diego.
