Welcome to the School of Science at IU Indianapolis. I am honored to join the School and to serve as Dean of such a creative community of researchers and educators.
Science and Mathematics play foundational roles in the process of innovation where fundamental discoveries lead to technical applications that culminate in advances that transform our society. These advances are necessary to meet the extraordinary challenges we now face, highlighted by the recent COVID-19 pandemic, and will prepare us to solve tomorrow's problems. The faculty and students in the School of Science at IU Indianapolis seek to investigate the unexplored, solve outstanding mysteries, and contribute solutions to these pressing problems.
We invite you to join us in our pursuits, as there is a strong tradition for students at every level engaging in the research programs at the School of Science. The School is a student-centered learning community made up of six departments and two interdisciplinary programs that deliver a suite of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as doctorate programs. This breadth of programs allows students the opportunity to find their niche and pursue their interests. School of Science students come from every corner of Indiana, as well as from many other states and countries throughout the world. Ours is a welcoming and inclusive community where diversity is celebrated and the focus is on assisting every student in reaching their full potential. I invite you to explore our websites where you will find examples of student successes, opportunities in academic exploration, and highlights from our faculty led research.
I'm proud to be part of the School of Science. I look forward to working with our faculty, staff, and students as they continue to make groundbreaking discoveries, and to helping prepare our students to be leaders for the State of Indiana.
