INDIANAPOLIS -- The School of Science had one of its most successful years at the seventh annual IUPUI Regatta. Justin Kosiba, Jeremy Sherer, Dillon Etter and Terra Query took home first place in the co-ed division with their team Science Alumni. Kosiba, a 2004 biology alumnus was excited to be a part of the Regatta again this year. Query and Kosiba both currently serve on the School of Science Alumni Association board.
“The IUPUI Regatta has essentially become an annual tradition for me,” Kosiba said. “It’s a great chance to see the next generation of students, meet up with old classmates, and see professors in a casual and fun setting.”
Undergraduate Science team Ion the Prize, composed of Elliot Boyle, Melissa Gronceski, Ruben Naoye and Whitney Walker, competed for the first time this year and finished 18th out of 73 co-ed teams. Women in Science House alumnae and current undergraduates also participated with their own teams.
The School of Science had many additional representatives on the water this year as well. The Life-Health Sciences Internship (LHSI) teams, and forensic science team, CSI: IUPUI all got in on the fun. Scientists proved that they’re pretty good at rowing too with Science Dean Simon Rhodes and his team Starship IUPUI finishing 10th in the co-ed division and Zachary Bennett, current science student, capturing first place in the men’s division with his team IUPUI Swimming and Diving.
