INDIANAPOLIS - Eleven Science-affiliated teams competed and the Science Alumni 1 team, consisting of Justin Kosiba, Jeremy Sherer, Dillon Etter and Whitney Walker, took home fifth place in the co-ed division.
Walker, a 2016 interdisciplinary studies alumna, was excited to row for the first time as a Science alumna.
"I couldn't have asked for a more welcoming and supportive team," Walker said. "Regatta is one of my favorite ways to reconnect with the sense of community I had as a Science undergraduate."
Several other Science-affiliated teams had successful days including undergraduate team STEM 1, which placed seventh in the co-ed division and Dean Simon Rhodes' team Starship IUPUI, which placed second in their heat.
Science teams proved Regatta is a lot more than just a competition though. Science alumni team Heavy Metals brought back the 80's with their festive science-themed costumes and undergraduate team Ion the Prize gave it their all, but capsized four times during their heat, perhaps setting a new record.
The School of Science had many additional representatives on the water this year as well, including STEM 2, LHSI Alumni 2, Women in Science House, CS Club, WISE and LHSI.
