Undergrad brings learning to life

Kira Wiseman | Undergraduate | Earth Sciences Kira Wiseman grew up on a peninsula in Newport News, Virginia, surrounded by water and marine life. This sparked her interest in science from a very early age

“I chose the environmental science program at IUPUI because of the amazing opportunities—from hands-on research to caving with Geology Club,” says Kira. “I was also able to volunteer at the Indiana State Museum helping grade-school students explore their interest in science.”

While at IUPUI, Kira documented and analyzed bacteria levels in local reservoirs, which fueled her curiosity to keep exploring and helped her to secure a position with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
