Important changes as of July 1, 2024
On July 1, 2024, IUPUI begins its next chapter as two separate universities—IU Indianapolis and Purdue University in Indianapolis. Computer & Information Science is no longer part of the School of Science at IU Indianapolis.
The information on this page is applicable only to current students who enrolled at IUPUI prior to the summer 2024 semester.
New students (fall 2024 semester or later) looking for information about computer science programs, majors, and certificates can visit Purdue University in Indianapolis and IU Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering.
Artificial intelligence is an impactful technology that many industries have started to adopt to increase productivity, efficiency, and quality. It is likely that many graduates from diverse majors will apply artificial intelligence algorithms or use results produced by artificial intelligence in their careers.
Thus, artificial intelligence will impact and shape industries and their workforces in many ways. Some will develop AI technologies, and many others will consume AI information but must also understand the domain in which AI technology is being applied. Thus, both “technical people” and “lay people” must be trained in artificial intelligence and related technologies.
The purpose of this certificate is to let undergraduate and stand-alone certificate students learn and apply artificial intelligence concepts and earn a credential.
