The research in my lab involves sterol biosynthesis and sterol uptake in three species of yeast-S. cerevisiae, C. albicans, and C. glabrata. In particular we are interested in protein-protein interactions among the fourteen enzymes that make up the sterol biosynthetic pathway. Additionally we are studying mechanisms by which yeasts take up sterol from the environment. This is important since many antifungal agents target the sterol biosynthetic pathway.
