Research

I am a physiologist whose main research interest is in the regulation of epithelial ion transport mechanisms that contribute to salt and water homeostasis in health and disease.

My current research is directed toward finding targets for development of drugs to treat hydrocephalus. Overall, our studies are focused on developing a compound that can alleviate both the acute and chronic pathologies associated with multiple forms of hydrocephalus with the goal of moving into clinical trials.

I am currently the corresponding PI of two Department of Defense grants, a Focused Program Award and an Expansion Award. The grants are collaborative with Co-PIs from Indiana University, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Purdue University. As part of this funding, we have established a Hydrocephalus Research Center in the School of Science at Indiana University, Indianapolis.
