INDIANAPOLIS -- Kathy E. Johnson has been selected to serve a one-year term as interim executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer effective Aug. 16. A nationwide search for IUPUI's executive vice chancellor will begin during the 2015-16 academic year.
Johnson, who joined IUPUI's faculty in 1993 and is a professor in the Department of Psychology in the Purdue School of Science at IUPUI, has served as associate vice chancellor for undergraduate education and dean of University College since 2011. Previously, she served as chair of the psychology department and as faculty fellow to the Office of Academic Affairs. Johnson earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and her doctorate from Emory University.
"Dr. Johnson has consistently demonstrated excellent leadership and a commitment to the highest academic standards," Paydar said. "Her background, experience, dynamic approach to planning and execution, and experiences across the university prepare her to serve exceptionally well as the chief academic officer of this campus."
"I am humbled and honored to serve this campus that I love and consider my home," Johnson said. "The task for this year will be to continue, and hopefully accelerate, the momentum as we work to achieve elements of the IUPUI Strategic Plan aligned with academic affairs."
