You’ll also have plenty of career opportunities. Earth scientists are needed across the country, in rural and urban areas, working inside and out in the field. Where and how you work is up to you.

What can I do with a degree in earth and environmental sciences?

A degree in earth sciences prepares you for a multitude of careers across the globe. 

Serve as a consultant for a petroleum or mining company. Work for the government at a local, state, or federal agency. Become one of the many geologists and environmental scientists employed in business, industry, and education across the U.S. You can choose to start your career in an entry-level position with your bachelor’s degree or go on to pursue a master’s or Ph.D. program.

The field is steadily growing, and salaries are higher than in many other professions—especially if you have a master’s degree.
