Biology B.S./M.P.H.
Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Public Health
This combined degree program lets students fast-track their education and earn both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) in just five years—saving time and cost compared to completing the degrees separately.
You will gain a strong foundation in biology along with interdisciplinary training in public health, preparing you to tackle complex health issues that affect entire communities. As a graduate of this program, you will be well-equipped to pursue a career or further training focused on disease prevention, health education and promotion, and improving population health.
Plan of study
You will spend your first three years completing your bachelor’s degree requirements. During spring of your third year, you will apply for the accelerated M.P.H. program. If accepted into the accelerated program, you will complete your first year of M.P.H. coursework along with select bachelor's degree courses during your fourth year.
A portion of the M.P.H. coursework fulfills a portion of your B.S. in Biology coursework, allowing you to graduate with your bachelor’s degree in the summer after your first year in the M.P.H. program. During your fifth year you will complete the remaining M.P.H. courses, allowing you to graduate with your M.P.H. in spring of your fifth year.
