In connection with the IU School of Medicine and the IU School of Dentistry, the IU Indianapolis School of Science provides conditional admission to the School of Medicine or School of Dentistry for qualified beginning freshmen who are directly admitted to the School of Science.
Students within these programs will be supplied a foundation for medical or dental education through special curriculum, academic advising, mentoring, MCAT and DAT preparation, and clinical or research experience.

B/MD Pathway to Medicine
The B/MD Pathway to Medicine program provides conditional admission to the IU School of Medicine MD program. Students who are accepted into the B/MD program may choose to pursue the traditional (4+4) pathway or the accelerated (3+4) pathway.
B/DDS Pathway to Dentistry
The B/DDS Pathway to Dentistry program provides conditional admission to the IU School of Dentistry DDS program. Students who are accepted into the B/DDS program will pursue the traditional (4+4) pathway.
To qualify for the program, prospective high school seniors must meet the following requirements:

How to apply
Before you apply to the B/MD or B/DDS program, you must apply to be admitted to IU Indianapolis. Students will be independently accepted into the undergraduate program and the B/MD or B/DDS program.
All students interested in applying to the medicine and dentistry pathway programs are encouraged to apply to IU Indianapolis as early in their senior year as possible. Once you have been admitted to IU Indianapolis, you will be able to apply for admission to the medicine and dentistry pathway programs in your applicant portal.
Only students who meet the admissions requirements listed above will be able to access the B/MD and B/DDS applications. If you believe you meet the requirements but do not have access to the applications in your applicant portal, please contact IU Indianapolis Undergraduate Admissions.
The deadline to submit a completed B/MD or B/DDS application is November 17, 2025 at 5 p.m. EST. The deadline for IU Indianapolis to receive all supplemental materials (transcripts, test scores, and letters) is December 5, 2025.
You may track the receipt of your application materials in the applicant portal. All applicants are responsible for ensuring their application materials are submitted or received by the deadline. Applications that are incomplete at the deadline will not be eligible for admissions review.

The IU Indianapolis application for fall admissions is usually available on or around August 1. Before you apply to the B/MD or B/DDS program, you must apply to be admitted to IU Indianapolis.

Decision notifications are released via email and your admissions student portal. If you are admitted to the B/MD or B/DDS program and wish to accept your admissions offer, you must complete the acceptance form linked in your student portal and submit your enrollment deposit by the deadline provided in your acceptance notification.
Waitlisted students notified
March through June
Waitlisted students will be notified by email of their acceptance if seats become available.
Application checklist for admission to the B/MD Pathway to Medicine program
You will only be able to access the B/MD Pathway to Medicine application once you have been admitted to IU Indianapolis.
Log in to your applicant portal to access the B/MD Pathway to Medicine application. You will receive an email from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions with a link to access your applicant portal within 1-2 business days after you've submitted your IU Indianapolis admissions application.
Complete the B/MD program application questions, including the name and email address of your letter of recommendation writer.
Upload your essay and curriculum vitae.
Submit your B/MD program application by November 17, 2025 at 5 p.m. EST.
Write an essay (350 words or less) explaining why you want to be a physician. Specifically address your motivation and why you are committed to being a physician. What experiences have informed this decision? Do not simply list your experiences, as they should be included in your CV. Instead, explain how those experiences confirmed your decision to become a physician.
Save your essay as a Word or PDF file and upload it into the B/MD application.
