To remain in good standing and earn acceptance to the IU School of Dentistry, all B/DDS applicants must meet, and continue to meet, all requirements of this academically rigorous program and the technical standards for admission to the IU School of Dentistry.
Grade Point Average (GPA)
Earn an overall and science minimum GPA, as calculated by the ADEA Associated American Dental Schools Application Services (AADSAS), as show in the table below.

School of Dentistry prerequisite coursework
Complete the prerequisite coursework required by IU School of Dentistry.
- Minimum 20 credit hours of biology coursework, including:
- One semester microbiology or immunology
- One semester cell biology, biochemistry, or molecular biology
- One semester anatomy with lab
- One semester physiology
- Minimum 12 credits chemistry, including:
- One year of general chemistry with lab
- One semester organic chemistry with lab
- One year of general physics with lab
- Minimum 3 credits of social sciences, including:
- One semester psychology or communications
- Minimum 3 credits of humanities, including:
- One semester of English composition, foreign language, philosophy, literature, or history
- Minimum 20 credit hours of biology coursework, including:
All prerequisite coursework for admission to dental school must be completed at IU Indianapolis.
Interview
Complete an interview with the IU School of Dentistry DDS admissions committee at the end of the first year of the B/DDS program.
Professional behavior
Engage in professional behavior at all times. Any institutional or legal sanction may result in dismissal from the B/DDS Pathway to Dentistry program.
Clinical observation, DAT and AADSAS
Bu August 31st of the year prior to beginning the DDS curriculum, students must take the DAT with minimum scores outlined below:

By October 1 of the year prior to beginning the DDS curriculum, students must also:
- Complete 100 hours of direct shadowing of a dentist in a patient care setting
- Submit the AADSAS application to IU School of Dentistry
